Redundancy concept for the thermal recovery of liquid and gaseous waste materials
OQ Chemicals, Oberhausen, Germany
Thermal Utilization of Liquid Residues and Organically Contaminated Exhaust Gases at the OQ Chemicals Industrial Power Plant in Oberhausen, Germany
To supply steam for internal plant use, OQ Chemicals operates an industrial power plant at its Oberhausen site, consisting of several boiler systems.
In addition to natural gas, two boiler systems also thermally utilize liquid production residues and/or gaseous exhaust air. To ensure future redundancy regarding the thermal utilization of liquid and gaseous waste materials (exhaust air), a redundancy concept in the form of a new boiler system was to be developed and evaluated from a safety and technical perspective.
In addition, an investment cost estimate was prepared, taking explosion protection requirements into account. Tender documents were prepared for the redundant operation of the various exhaust air networks.
