Feasibility Study on the Modernization of a Combined Heat and Power Plant
DESIGNETZ – Renovation of the Fenne Power Plant, Völklingen, Germany
As part of a feasibility study, all possible options for modernizing the Fenne CHP plant were examined.
These include, among other things, converting to natural gas or biomass, retrofitting a gas turbine, and constructing a new combined cycle power plant:
- Assessment of technical feasibility and development of the concept
- Thermal engineering calculations
- Determination of CAPEX/OPEX
- Scheduling
- Operational management concept
- Concept clarification through preliminary inquiries and supplier discussions regarding electrolysis and compressors
- Approval feasibility
- Funding
- Flue gas treatment (FGT) assessment based on the new SOx limit value of 200 mg/Nm³ (dry basis) as a daily average
- Development of retrofit concepts to optimize flue gas treatment systems
