Feasibility Study for HydroxyHub at the Power Plant Site

STEAG plans to install a new large-scale hydrogen electrolysis plant (HydroxyHub) at its Walsum site, adjacent to the existing power plant. The base version of the electrolysis plant is expected to have an electrical power consumption of 100 MW.

Iqony Solutions (IQS) provided the following services:

• Development of a preliminary concept (including interface definition)
• Clarification of the concept for electrolysis and compressors
• Preliminary sizing of the electrolysis plant and auxiliary systems (switchgear, water treatment system, storage tanks, compressor system)
• Clarification of grid connection and power supply from the high-voltage grid
• Assessment of site synergies
• Assessment of regulatory approval issues
