Decarbonization Study for District Heating Generation

Iqony Solutions was commissioned by swb Erzeugung AG & Co. KG to conduct a decarbonization study to examine options for future district heating generation at the HKW Hastedt site.
The study concluded that a multi-engine CHP plant with a capacity of 70–100 MWel was the best conceptual solution.
The concept study covered the following points:
- Scoping Study
- Definition of boundary conditions
- Analysis of primary energy options for the site
- Analysis of system options for the site
- Development of variants for future plant configurations
- Selection of variants to be pursued further through workshops
- Determination of approximate design and operating values, installation options, and preliminary schedules for the selected plant variants
- Economic feasibility analysis
- Comparison and evaluation of the variants
