Achieving climate protection goals is becoming increasingly urgent, especially in the German market. The current state of decarbonization in industry paints a very mixed picture. Some industries, such as steel, chemicals, and cement, still have a long way to go, as they have process-related CO2 emissions that are difficult to reduce. Other industries have an easier time of it, as they have access to green electricity or green production facilities. Nevertheless, the road to climate neutrality is long and challenging for everyone, as the last few percentage points of emission reduction are the most difficult to achieve.
Although the issue of decarbonization has been recognized by all companies, there are several reasons why progress is not advancing as quickly as expected.
