Iqony Renewables awarded four renewable energy projects
Essen, 17 December 2025 - Iqony Renewables GmbH has been awarded four projects in state tenders for renewable energies. The Steag Iqony Group company has thus secured fixed purchase prices for the electricity generated by the plants over a period of 20 years. This long-term price guarantee is a crucial basis for operating wind and solar parks economically.
In France, the wind project "Bernot" wind project in the Hauts-de-France region was awarded the contract. The wind farm will have a capacity of 26 megawatts and is scheduled to go into operation in April 2028.
In Italy, Iqony Renewables was awarded three solar projects. In Sicily, two solar parks “S&P 6” and “S&P 7” with a total capacity of 211 megawatts were awarded, as well as the “Casale sul Sile” solar park in the Veneto region with a capacity of 4 megawatts.
New course bears fruit
"The auction results show that our new course is bearing fruit," says Joël Wagner, Managing Director of Iqony Renewables GmbH. The Steag Iqony Group merged its entire wind and photovoltaic business under one roof in the summer. Since then, Iqony Renewables has been responsible for the development, planning and implementation of solar and wind projects. "By pooling our expertise, we are creating the conditions for operating our own wind and solar parks," explains Wagner. "In this way, we are making an important contribution to CO₂-neutral energy generation within the Steag Iqony Group."
In future, Iqony Renewables - formerly known as Iqony SENS - will focus entirely on its role as an independent power producer (IPP) and continue to drive forward the expansion of renewable energies with its own, long-term operated assets.
