As part of the energy transition, electricity generation, consumption and power grids must be intelligently coordinated and interconnected. More than a third of energy generation in Germany currently comes from renewable sources. This trend, which is explicitly supported by the German government, is set to continue in the coming years. However, as energy from wind and solar sources depends on the weather and time of day, it is not available as reliably as is required for a secure electricity supply. Solutions are therefore needed to address this issue. This includes efforts to intelligently coordinate and interconnect electricity generation, consumption and power grids. This is to be achieved primarily through smart metering systems and metering equipment.
The legislature has therefore passed the Act on the Digitalisation of the Energy Transition, with the aim of introducing it from 2017 and completing it by 2032. This, in turn, presents municipal utilities and network operators with the necessity of implementing these requirements. We are available here as an experienced service provider and partner.
