About us - The Steag Iqony Group introduces itself

We bundle two important pillars of the energy transition

The Steag Iqony Group combines two important pillars of the energy transition under one roof: STEAG Power GmbH as a provider of security of supply and Iqony GmbH as a shaper of the energy transition. Together we are meeting the challenges of the energy transition. Here you will find an overview of our company, our strategic orientation and our corporate management.

We are shaping the future of energy

Our strategy

Our strategy is the basis of our actions. It provides orientation, creates clarity and guides us in everything we do. At a time of profound change in the energy industry, it provides direction and stability. It combines our ambitions with concrete measures and helps us to make conscious and targeted decisions - always with our common goal in mind: actively helping to shape a climate-neutral, secure and sustainable energy world.

Our vision

We shape the future of energy: Using our initiative and experience, we invest in climate neutrality and security of supply.

Our mission

Using our high level of technical and energy industry expertise, we work as a team to create solutions for a sustainable and secure energy future.

In a constantly changing energy world, our plants and our team stand for reliability, adaptability, and proactivity.

As a profitably growing group, we work with our partners and customers to master the challenges of the energy transition.

Shaping the future - our goals for the coming years

Clear focus: We are focussing on four strategic business areas in order to actively shape the future

Renewables

We develop, build, and operate renewable energy plants across Europe. But not to sell them on—rather, because we invest, operate, and take responsibility ourselves. Permanently. We live and breathe IPP with technical expertise and an interdisciplinary team: from project development to construction and operation to electricity marketing. We don't use standard templates. Only solutions that are tailored to the site, region, and objective.

District and local heating

Sustainable heat for everyone – safe and reliable: As a district heating supplier, we operate numerous regional district heating networks throughout Germany. We are a reliable partner for local authorities and municipal utilities when it comes to cooperation and decarbonising heating networks. We supply private households, businesses and real estate companies with climate-friendly district heating.

Industrial customers and services

For industrial companies with energy-intensive production processes, the most cost-efficient energy supply possible is a crucial aspect. As your partner, we offer tailor-made, production site-specific strategies for achieving a sustainable, secure and affordable energy supply. We also offer bespoke services and contracting for sustainable, supplier-independent technologies.

Site development

We operate hard coal-fired power stations at six locations in Germany. These contribute to a secure and affordable energy supply. At the same time, we are working on converting our sites into so-called energy hubs. In doing so, we are focusing on new technologies for a sustainable, climate-friendly energy supply: from state-of-the-art combined cycle gas turbine plants and innovative large-scale battery storage systems to intelligent combined heat and power plants.

Our concrete goals

Build a business model based on the development of the sites for the entire company.

Build one of the largest district heating players in Germany.

Decarbonization of the Group by 2040
